Hey, does anyone have any photos of the sea creatures from Marianas Trench Dive? I remember there was something like a big jellyfish, and a colony of underwater bugs, and some squid that lit up in bright colors... buit I don't remember many details. Would love to see some of your guys's pics!!!

Just FYI, the name of the ride was "Mariana Trench Dive," without the "s" :-) The "jellyfish" you're remembering was probably the siphonophore - a big colony of jellyfish-like creatures: www.wikiwand.com/en/Siphonophorae The one in Mariana Trench Dive was (supposedly) over a mile long, as I recall! The colonial creatures were deep-sea isopods, which had built a complex colony like ants or termites: www.wikiwand.com/en/Giant_isopodAnd the "squid" were actually very large cuttlefish, as I recall! They could camouflage themselves, and also used a complex system of color communication that the Captain (narrator) theorized might even be a primitive form of language. There were definitely other strange marine creatures on this ride. I'll try to think of more.

Hey guys! I finally managed to dig out my old copy 1986's "Official Guide to OmniPark," which has a lot of great photos. Sorry in advance for the poor scan quality (I'm not super great with technology) but here's one of the original models of the giant siphonophore:
Here's a shot of the Mariana Trench Dive track as it looked under construction in 1976:
And here's a model for one of the weird octopoid creatures:
I'll post more pics as I have time to scan them (I've gotta pick up my kid from college this weekend... crazy times!)
